ArooFebruary 14, 2017 at 5:25 pmFor the second question why isn’t the ‘y’ value for the minimum point 10? Does that mean that you can’t put the initial equation 3xsquared + 9x + 10 = 0 to find the ‘y’ value??

Stuart the ExamSolutions GuyFebruary 14, 2017 at 8:12 pmThe curve is not symmetrical about the y-axis as it does not have the form y=ax^2 + c. If it had then the min or max depending on whether a is positive or negative would be c. However, this graph is not symmetrical about the y-axis and so the min is not 10. Putting y=0 will tell you where the graph crosses the x-axis not the minimum.
