Chapter 3, Question 2 – Differentiation

Differentiate 3x² + 2x with respect to x.

Learning the step

Differentiation is one rule applied term by term: bring the power down, then drop the power by one. For 3x², the 2 comes down (2 × 3 = 6) and x² becomes x, giving 6x. For 2x the power is already 1, so it just leaves 2.
